They said the best they could do was give me a 15% off coupon for another one. When I held the cord at a up or down angle I was able to get the lightening bolt symptom. She also said the ports can be affected when people use them while they are plugged in. The supervisors tip was to hold down the power button for 40 sec and then try turning it on holding it for 2 seconds. I contacted Amazon today and they said there is a 1 year warranty and sadly we were exactly 2 month over. However, a month ago it started having charging problems again. We contacted Amazon and they reimbursed us for a new power adapter and that did the trick. My son’s Fire had hanging problems after one month. Not sure what the issue was, but it looked like it might have been a bad disk sector. I noticed that there were other logs from other dates, but it appears a normal reboot was enough to fix those issues. Appears there was an issue trying to boot up, but a normal reboot would not fix it and a recovery reboot was needed to do the repair it.

Then, given I’m a retired software QA engineer, I reboot to the recovery menu and looked at the recovery logs. So I powered it off and back on, and it booted up in the normal time, so everything seems to be okay. Tried that and it restarted successfully, although it did take much longer than usual.
AMAZON KINDLE FIRE BATTERY NOT CHARGING SERIES
I got a the ‘Amazon system recovery’ menu, which had a series of prompts, the first of which was to “reboot system now”. However I did NOT get a message that said “Installing latest software”.

Restore Latest Software, With the Fire off, press and hold the “Volume Up” button, then press “Power” for 45 seconds to turn the Fire on.”. Please help, this is really annoying now!! The most frustrating aspect is the only way I can stay in contact with my long-distance boyfriend is via the Kik messaging app on my tablet, due to him living in a different country to me and I can’t afford a new tablet right now, unless I sell some of my possessions :/ Being poor sucks! Holding down the volume/ power button doesn’t do anything, that was working, but now it doesn’t. Is it a software, battery, or charging port issue that is common with Amazon Fire tablets?
AMAZON KINDLE FIRE BATTERY NOT CHARGING CRACK
I did accidently crack the screen, a few years ago. It now won’t even turn on, it doesn’t show the Amazon Fire logo. It was becoming very hot, while I was trying to charge it, it is slow to recharge the battery and then the battery drains very quickly while I use the tablet. This has happened before when the battery was completely dead, but it was fine after I recharged it.Ĭharged the battery. I have used different charging cables, different charging plugs, a different extension lead, or plugged it into the socket in the wall, but nothing works. I chose to reboot the system and it hasn’t worked since at all. It wasn’t fully charged (maybe 40%-50% charged) It eventually turned itself off, and every time I tried to turn it back on again, it would turn itself off, due to the battery being completely dead, so I tried to recharge it, the amazon/fire logo was displayed but it kept loading the Amazon Fire logo.

I was using the tablet to look at and other websites, the tablet crashed and was unresponsive. I have a 7th generation Amazon Fire tablet, that I have had for a few years. This post applies to 5th through 8th Gen Amazon Fire devices such as the HD7, HD8, and HD10. If you’ve discovered something that else that helps, or are still struggling, please post a detailed story below in the comments section. Hopefully one of these tips above worked.
